We survived our first year of marriage while my husband was in his first year of medical school. Reading back on my old posts you could tell I was a complete emotional mess. I am so happy to say that things turned around and I found a positive outlook to the obstacles that we over came throughout the year. On Saturday we will be celebrating our first year of marriage. It brings me great joy to know that I have been blessed with a wonderful man. I am also thankful for all of you who helped me through out this journey. It was tough in the beginning and I can not thank this blog spot enough for helping me keep sane.
THANK YOU!!!

Hurray!! Congrats. :)I'm so glad things are going better for you! In my experience, each year gets easier. I thought the 1st was the hardest because your adjusting. 2nd year is still book work, but your more used to it and know what to expect. 3rd year is rotations, so its more exciting and 4th year is more laid back. (we are in our 4th..yeah!)
So, you can do it....hang in there!
i have a gf who got married right before med school started and now they're in residency. she likes to say that those years count double because it was so much harder being a newlywed AND med wife.
Thanks Derricca and anorthowife. My husband wants to be an ortho as well. So when he's not studying, he's doing research. It was definitely an adjustment and continues to be. I like your friends thinking. It definitely counts as double :)
Im so glad a fellow Medschool wife clued me in to this blog spot. its great to know "im not the only one!!" Sometimes felt like im going crazy.
I have a "planning a wedding during 1st year, 8hrs away from our medschool" story. I'd like to share. bhackney@gmail.com
My husband and I got married 4 months before he got into med school. By our first year of marriage, we had a 3 month old baby. 2 weeks before his step 1 exams, we had our second child. Let's just say the 1st year or 2 couldn't have been any harder, but we only became more of a team through the tough times. Now we are expecting our 3rd child and he's in his intern year of residency. Just remember, even CRAZY people like us can make it work! Keep pushing through the hard times and it will all be worth it!
Thank you for posting this; it gives me hope.
My fiance is in his 4th year of medical school, approaching residency and everything that goes along with that.
We are getting married in May, right before we leave and go off on the adventure of residency.
Thank you for the hope, and congratulations!
