Well there is no turning back now. My husband and I found out two days ago that we will be parents in June. Scary as that it is we are very excited and have been spreading the news of our little one for the past two days. I'm experiencing a lot of emotions right now which fluctuate from joy to "oh crap I'm not ready for this". It doesn't seem real and most likely won't until we have our first appointment in late Oct. I'm looking forward to this roller coaster ride with my eyes on the God who created me and my wonderful husband holding my hand along the way. :)

Congratulations!!! Don't be scared! My husband and I found out in April we were expecting and it was a total shocker. But such a blessing in disguise! We're due next month with a little girl and CAN'T WAIT!!! We weren't planning on being parents so soon (we wanted to wait another 1-2 years), but we believe it was in God's hands and he always has a better plan for us. Here's my 'announcing' post about it on my blog. Check it out of you want: http://katieblake.blogspot.com/2010/07/new-news.html
Let me know if you need anything :)
How exciting! My husband is a second year and we are expecting a baby late April. (Easter Sunday actually!) He will take his STEP exam 6 weeks after our little one arrives. We're kind of nervous about that, but God never gives you more than you can handle! We always thought we'd have one fourth year, but now we're excited that he will get to be so close to this baby versus one born during residency. Also we'll move to wherever residency will be with a 2 year old, instead of a newborn. The list of positives go on and on. I'm excited that we will get to share this time together! We need to update how things are going on this blog.
Congrats! We had a baby boy almost 6 months ago-- Ashley, ours was due on Easter Sunday this year too! He decided to come a week late :) We never felt like it was too much to handle. My hubby had plenty of time to study, and did very well on Step 1. And like you said, moving for residency will hopefully be better with an older child! Just wanted to reassure you girls, its the best thing that will ever happen to you, and I promise after you look in their eyes not for one second will you think, oh crap! good luck, its the best ride of your life.
Babies, Medical School and everything else we can through in the mix is added "ball" to juggle! BUT it is all worth it in the end Our little boy was born 2 years and a month ago...Our soon to be little girl will be born later this month. We do believe that this timing is PERFECT for our family as appose to later and not really understanding all that goes on in Residency. :) You can make it and in the end you will think that the timing worked out perfectly for your little family!
Thanks everyone! I'm freaking out a little less at everything that has to be done. DH said we would just tackle on thing each weekend until we get everything ready. This weekend we picked out names. :)
Congratulations!!!!! This is wonderful news!!!!! You are supported here all along the way!!!! xoxo
Yay!!! Congratulations and keep us updated!!!
Where, when and how do I start to prepare for this new little person? I'm a planner and a researcher. I will vow to my death that I'm not a type A person however :) Can someone give me a push in the right direction? I feel like I'm just spinning my wheels right now.
Congratulations! This is definitely a blessing for you and your family. Good luck and know that we are all here for you :)
Congratulations, I just found this blog and would love to be added, I left a comment somewhere else but I then figured out it was an older post so I thought I would ask on a new one.
My name is Loni Carr and my email is lperwannabe@msn.com oh and thats a lower case L
I have a lot of questions for you gals and love the idea of knowing others doing the same thing I will be doing.
Thanks and hope to hear from you soon. Oh and I have two little boys one is just 5 weeks old, being a mother is AWESOME!! so congratulations to the writer.
Congrats!! You can do it.. I have two little girls, almost two and 10 days. It ain't easy but when is life ever easy. It is the most wonderful feeling in the world...
I agree with everyone's encouraging words! We have an almost 2 year-old and our son is 2 weeks old (hubby is MS1), and as any mom will tell you, it is never easy transitioning as you give up more of your own personal freedom... BUT SO WORTH IT! Our children are such a joy, and although in our earthly wisdom we may not have planned it exactly this way, we are so thankful that God knew what He was doing! He always gives us grace for what we need, but not for what we imagine!
First, congratulations! Ok so along the same lines. My husband is an MS1 and we keep talking about when to have children. Any input from those of you on here when to have kids? We are desperate for advice from people who have kids in Med School how it works. How do you deal with the financial side? If I could figure out how to start this as a new thread I would.
