I know Jason does a great job encouraging you, but you let me know if he gets a little lax. Also, do you think Jason would like to contribute to this blog? I think he might be the first male spouse and it would be great to hear from his perspective.Bethanyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07553304699196121442noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4862929075279319470.post-2463845658760627552009-01-12T20:14:00.000-08:002009-01-12T20:14:00.000-08:00I am the sister of one of the contributors (Bethan...I am the sister of one of the contributors (Bethany) and in my second year of med school, and I will just encourage you to keep being an encouragement to your husband, because medical school can be challenging in so many ways. Sometimes you are just bogged down by all that must be studied. At other times, the burden of all the disease and affliction there is in the world can make you feel hopeless, and yet you feel so far from being able to do anything to help.

It's not just another 3 1/2 years to the next big step. Even as a second year, I felt a transition -- now I know a little better how to do this med school thing, but even more is expected of me this year. Plus second year brings the boards, which is on the mind of a med2 all year, whether they will admit it or not. I am kind of nervous about the changes third year brings - it will be like starting all over again. And fourth year is filled with decisions, interviews, and another step of the boards...

I don't know what made me feel compelled to write all this to you... maybe it's for you, Ashley, or for someone else who will read it. Please keep encouraging our future physicians... sure, I say that kind of selfishly :), but also because it is a weighty and unique responsibility we are given as "healers" ... not to mention all the political stuff.

All the best to you,
BrittanyBrittany Hubbellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06213037815656989843noreply@blogger.com
